Diane,
Here at New York University Law School Library, we are editing existing records for updating loose-leafs on OCLC. If linking entries, 006s, edition statements, etc., are needed, we usually upgrade the record for the current resource to full national level, and update the record for the related resource at the same time. We also try to update the OCLC record any time after our initial cataloging of the resource, if it has undergone significant change, and needs to be updated.

We also update OCLC records for other types of integrating resources, but not as consistently.

A question for PCC libraries:

When cataloging integrating resources, is your library editing existing records on OCLC?

If so, are you doing this only at time of initial cataloging, or any time you encounter a change in the resource that requires updating of the bibliographic record?

If not, do you have any plans to begin editing integrating records on OCLC prior to the implementation of the new leader value of "i"?
