This message is being posted to several electronic lists including OCLC-Cat and PCCLIST, as well as OCLC News venues. Please forward this message to appropriate staff at your institution. Authorities save file aging will change from 180 days to 90 days with the OCLC Connexion enhancements installation on February 22, 2004. This change impacts authority records saved online in Connexion Authorities, as well as Passport and CatME. If you are a NACO participant and have authority save file records with expiration dates of more than 90 days on February 22, you should either re-set the expiration dates on those records (or all of your authorities save file records) prior to the installation or complete any work and contribute the records. Locally edited online authority save file records as well as locked authority records in CatME authority local files are also effected. You may re-set expiration dates anytime between today and February 21, 2004. Additionally, with this installation, 5xx cross references in authority records should now all be available and linked to appropriate 1xx headings. Currently, if a 5xx link matched to more than one 4xx or 5xx cross reference, the system displays the first authority record and it may not have been the matching authority record. If there is more than one matching cross reference, you get an popup labeled "Authority Reference Display", with all 1xx headings displayed with the option to display the correct matching record. For an example, do a keyword search on "aesthetics" using the LCSH index. Under Aesthetics [150], click on the Art [550] link. Multiple authority headings are displayed as multiple cross references matched the term "art". The correct term is Art [150]. In the future, this should become more tag specific, e.g., matching a 550 reference to a 150 heading. Also, if there is no a matching 1xx heading when accessing a 5xx reference, rather than the current message "Record is no longer available", the message reads " Authority search for the heading [search term] failed. No matching authority records found."
