Duties: Provide reference and research services to TEC analysts engaged in
geographic analysis. Acquire geographic and geospatial data, and pursue new
potential sources of data or new products. Catalog these newly acquired
materials in an accurate and timely fashion, into the Geospatial Information
Librarys database. Liaison to the US Geological Survey and the Earth Science
Information Center to conduct research. Effective management of research
projects: meeting deadlines, providing active communication with customer
and team leader, and returning borrowed items in a timely manner. Utilize
local resources to assist patrons. Work with subordinate Technical
Information Specialists to quality check cataloging records. Understand the
importance of details and being organized. Actively cultivates new
technologies and methodologies, which will enhance organizational research
and collection capabilities. Train subordinate Specialists in data
collection procedures, customer service.

*       This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory
Personnel Management Demonstration Project and this pay band DJ-03 includes
the General Schedule grade equivalent to GS-11-12. This announcement may be
used to fill essentially identical position vacancies, with the same job
related criteria, in the same organization, which may occur within a 6
months period of the closing date. In accordance with the Federal Register
Vol.63, No.57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Lab Demo must have a
current average performance score of 2.5 or above if selected. All
applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must
include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their
electronic resume. If you are a Lab Demo employee submitting your resume for
the first time, or if you have previously submitted your resume without your

*       GS-11: One year of experience directly related to the occupation
equivalent to at least the next lower grade level; or Ph.D. or equivalent
doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate
education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related; or equivalent
combinations of experience and education.

*       GS-12 and above: One year of experience directly related to the
occupation and equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. There is
no substitution of education for experience at this level.

*       Education can be substituted for experience. Review the
qualification requirements for specific information.

*       Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade (or
equivalent).

*       Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 25 percent.
