A plea for help.

Our library had a PC running Windows 2000 until a couple of days ago, when
we were given a new computer with Windows XP installed. I've found that
I'm unable to do transformations with Saxon because XP apparently doesn't
include Microsoft's Virtual Machine software. Has anyone else dealt with
this problem? Does it make sense to install Java Virtual Machine now, or
are there going to be problems with running it in Windows later on? I have
only the vaguest idea of what is going on between Microsoft and Sun these
days. Maybe someone who's been following this more closely can suggest the
best course to take.

With thanks,
