     NLS has been asked to announce an opening for Special Services Librarian at the Wolfner
     Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Jefferson City, Missouri.

     This is a professional library position in the secretary of state's office, which is responsible for
     collection development and reference services within Wolfner Library for the Blind and
     Physically Handicapped.  The special services librarian performs subject cataloging and
     collection maintenance; learns the newest assistive technologies and advocates their use;
     provides reference and information services to the consumers of Wolfner Library; coordinates
     public education and outreach activities as assigned; shares in the responsibilities for the
     administrative functions of the Keystone Library Automation System (KLAS) with the director
     and administrative program coordinator; and keeps up-to-date on new directions of library
     services including digital-book production, current trends and use of electronic books, and
     delivery of those electronic services.  Travel required as needed for outreach events and project
     development.  Master of Library Science from an American Library Association accredited
     library school or equivalent is required.
