LOOKING FOR A CHANCE TO EXCEL? The GS-1410-12 vacancy at the Army Research
Institute (ARI) for Behavioral and Social Sciences may be the one you are
waiting for. A new library, a small community of informed, intelligent
researchers and analysts who want and need library service, agency
leadership that values and supports the library and believes in training -
what more could you want? ARI, a part of the Army Deputy Chief of Staff,
G1, is the Army's lead research laboratory for training, leader development,
and personnel research. To provide library services to this staff of highly
educated professionals, ARI is seeking a proactive, energetic,
service-oriented librarian with reference, automation, and searching
experience. Web-development experience or interest is desirable.

Place yourself in a comfortable new facility in the center of Crystal City
with easy access to shops, restaurants, fitness centers, the Metro and
underground parking. Government provided Metro checks make public
transportation a plus. A break room around the corner from the library has
an ice machine, vending machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens, coffee
makers, toaster, etc. ARI has a pleasant working environment that allows
you to set your own pace in managing the library.

The collection includes over 5,000 books, journals, tapes, and documents
focusing on psychology, personnel management, military leadership and
training. The SIRSI ILS was acquired ten years ago and has been partially
implemented but needs the hand of a motivated librarian to bring out its
full capabilities. The library homepage on the intranet is also waiting for
a creative and proactive librarian to make it the valuable tool it could be
for the ARI staff. This is a wonderful opportunity for a librarian who
wants to show what good library service is all about. For more information
