Library Associates is seeking a seasoned information professional to lead our organization’s government contracts division, located in Rockville, MD. The idea candidate will have in depth experience and knowledge in the developing, executing and managing contracts, proposals and project management for information management assignments in libraries, archives or records centers.
Profile: The Vice President of Government Services reports to the CEO and is responsible for building upon existing relationships and creating new opportunities in the government sector, which includes federal, state, and local government.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Develop, manage, promote and maintain Library Associates’ government and regional contracts, including oversight of project management, client relationship management, seeking out new opportunities, networking within the information industry and surrounding communities, and working with other executive and administrative staff on project management and business development.
Develop and execute plan to expand Library Associates’ presence with existing clients, research and identify potential new client bases; make site visits; oversee maintenance of projects, proposals, solicitation/RFP responses and contract.
Develop project management plans, costs and budget planning, timelines and quality assurance to ensure that projects and assignments are managed properly.
Work with other Library Associates executives and senior staff on strategic planning and business development. Maintain client relationships and be a primary liaison between Library Associates employees working at client sites, the client and Library Associates management.
Cultivate new and/or existing areas of business including but not limited to: network with members of professional and vendor organizations to identify new products or services and markets for them; evaluate potential new business opportunities and research and prepare business plans for review; oversee development of new lines of business.
Represent Library Associates in a public relations capacity including but not limited to: attend networking and other professional meetings; exhibits at local and national events.
MLS or advance degree required.
Minimum of 10 years experience in business, human resources or library setting required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Hands on knowledge of computers and office software.
Understanding the library and information science community, and/or government purchasing/contracting procedures is highly desirable.
