Eleanor Frierson, Deputy Director of National Agricultural Library, has been re-elected as the FEDLINK delegate to the OCLC Members Council. She will serve a second three-year term from mid-2005 through mid-2008. Suzanne Ryder, Associate Librarian, Naval Research Laboratory, will serve as alternate.

The OCLC Members Council addresses policies and issues of concern to the library community and is the voice of OCLC members. The Members Council exercises its responsibilities by
* electing six trustees to the OCLC Board of Trustees from the Members Council
* ratifying amendments to the OCLC Code of Regulations and Articles of Incorporation
* meeting with OCLC management and members of the OCLC Board of Trustees to discuss issues of mutual concern and to make recommendations, and
* ensuring regular and open communication between general members and OCLC.

Members Council delegates are elected by members to represent each of the OCLC Networks and Service Centers in the US and abroad, based on contribution to the OCLC WorldCat database and loans to other libraries. FEDLINK cataloging contribution has not kept pace with the growth of international contribution and some other regions, so that only one delegate is allocated to our network. Encouraging contribution is a goal that Ms Frierson intends to assist FEDLINK staff and members to pursue.

Ms Frierson will report on the upcoming OCLC Members Council meeting (May 15-17) at the next FEDLINK OCLC Users Group Meeting on May 24.
