FLICC MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT MA2005-32

FLICC and DC/SLA Brown Bag

Taking the Sting Out of Statistics

While many people dreaded college statistics classes, a working knowledge of the terminology and concepts of statistics can be a valuable tool in professional work. Join Dr. Elana Broch, Assistant Population Research Librarian, at the Donald E. Stokes Library for Public and International Affairs and the Coale Population Research Collection, Princeton University, for one or both parts of this calculation-free introduction to commonly used statistical concepts.

Part 1: Descriptive Statistics--12 noon to 1:30 p.m.--Bring Your Lunch!

If you cannot remember the difference between the mean and the median or need a review of graphs and correlation, this session is for you!

Part 2: Key Concepts in Statics--1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

If your brain freezes over terms like "statistically significant," "sampling" or "confidence interval," this session will offer you an overview of these important concepts.
