Hi, All,=20
=20
Just a quick note to let you know that I attended the triumphant opening =
night of "Soon of a Mornin'," a new musical written by our 2004 Parsons =
Fund awardee Andrea Frierson-Toney (the first artist to win the award).=20
=20
The night was a huge success, the actors playing to an enthusiastic and =
sold-out house. The musical was very well written, staged, and directed, =
and the casting was great. I was surprised how much actual content of the =
musical came directly from our 1941 Gee's Bend recordings.=20
=20
Here is a link to the September 13th Playbill article on the musical. It =
mentions the Folklife Center's Reading Room and the Parsons Fund award, so =
it would be a lovely thing to share with the Librarian, Deanna Marcum, and =
our Board.

=20
I hope we can work to get "Soon of a Mornin'" to our Coolidge Auditorium =
here at the Library. This archive-to-stage story is a glowing example of =
the part AFC and the Library plays in American Creativity ! !
