however, misstating actual wording, or slightly re-wording something
is a hallmark of the tired and old pseudo-conservative prejudice,
which i'm sure you would not be guilty of. this is also commonly
known as obfuscation. when coupled with focus group research, you
have what is called a karl rove card. the opposite of competent,
incompetent, does not mean nor imply stupid, or ignorant.

Of course you are correct in your statement about the word competent. But
would you deny that the kind of liberal I am speaking about in my email
response regularly and consistently implies how "stupid" Bush and others like him
are? There is no doubt that the implication of stupidity has been in
liberalism since the era of Adlai Stevenson. I am old enough to remember and you may
be as well.

I have worked in the oil industry myself as a filmmaker for more than 20
years. They never had a problem with profits in ANY administration. Bush
hasn't changed that. Most of the oil from Iraq went to France, Russia and China
and the like. They are still getting it. They are still profiting from it.
Your information and flippant but clever comment need to be explored by you.
Look deeply into who owned that oil before the Iraq war. And who owns it
now. And who profits from it.

I am no conspiracy theorist at all. Just an ex-liberal disappointed with
the arrogance, elitism, and careless use of facts by my former liberal
colleagues.
