Dear all, I am working with MODS version 3.0 and 3.1 and following the Detailed Description of MODS Elements (version 3.0) to create MODS records (http://www.loc.gov/standards/mods/mods-userguide-elements.html). In the Detailed Description of MODS Elements (version 3.0) it defines that one can use the <part> element only within the <relatedItem type="host">. In MODS 3.1 the <part> element is not a subelement of the <relatedItem> element but a subelement of <mods>. So, here is my question: in MODS 3.1 do we have to insert a <part> element in a MODS record only when there is a <relatedItem type="host"> in it? [Basically, I want to designate the numbering of a monograph inside a series and that is why I am wondering.] As I have seen in some emails [http://listserv.loc.gov/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0501&L=mods&T=0&F=&S=&X=7C0B4C48550B393709&P=8609] <part> may be used to describe different kind of "parts" and not only those related to host.
