The OSU Archives seeks an archivist
with skills and interest in providing innovative reference services to users,
enhanced online description of archival collections through Encoded Archival
Description, and delivery of archival materials through the OSU Libraries
digital collections. The Staff
Archivist will participate in all aspects of the Archives program with primary
responsibility for the Archives reference and public service activities and
supervision of student assistants.
The Oregon State University
Archives, established in 1961, is a department of the University Libraries. The
University Archives collects, describes, makes accessible to the public, and
exhibits permanent records created or received by OSU departments and offices
and records of private origin that complement those of the university. The staff includes 6 archivists
(5.4 FTE) and 4-6 student assistants (~2.5 FTE).
The OSU Libraries has been the lead
institution for the Northwest Digital Archives since its establishment in 2002
and EAD finding aids of OSU Archives’ collections are currently provided through
the NWDA finding aids database.
Archival materials (primarily photographs) are well represented in the
OSU Libraries digital collections.
The Oregon Multicultural Archives
was established in 2005 and will comprehensively acquire, preserve and make
available collections that document the lives and activities of African
American, Asian American, Latino and Native American
