Media Services No. 06-01 Date: March 3, 2006 Subject: Ten-Squared Talking-Book Club celebrates centenarian patrons NLS encourages network libraries to celebrate their centenarian patrons through the Ten-Squared Talking-Book Club. In fiscal year 2005, thirteen network libraries held events to induct sixty-one patrons into the Ten-Squared Talking-Book Club. The events have garnered media attention for the network's free library services and highlighted the achieve ments of our patrons, who continue to actively read and learn after more than a century of living. The events provide an ongoing opportunity to heighten awareness of the free reading services provided by each state and to communicate the benefits of the program to eligible individuals. For every Ten-Squared event, individual libraries are responsible for contacting their centenarian patrons, managing the event logistics, and notifying the media. To learn more about the Ten-Squared Club, log on to the Network Library Services web site at www.loc.gov/pics.
