The Montague Institute will present a workshop
on how to create, maintain, and integrate metadata with a search engine on June
14, 2006 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Eastern time at the MITRE Corporation in
Bedford, Massachusetts. For registration information and workshop
description, see http://www.montague.com/searchseminar.htm.
Search engines have improved over the last 10
years, but in many cases they still serve up too many irrelevant items. One way
to make them "smarter" is to use taxonomies and metadata. In this seminar, you
will learn how to create and maintain metadata structures (taxonomies) and
expose them for use by a metadata-aware search engine such as Autonomy's
Ultraseek and the Google Search Appliance. As an option, you can create your own
metadata using a Web-based Lab and experiment with search engine interface
functions.
