Fellow colleagues,

Finishing up research on my Rodeheaver paper for consideration in the ARSC
Journal, and I have run into an obstacle I'd really like some help with. I
was going over some of Rody's account books from the 1920s. These small
account ledgers document Rody's taxable personal income for certain years. I
stated in my ARSC talk that he did not record for Pathe, but I note that he
was receiving some small measure of payment from Pathe in the 1923 ledger -
at first just $2.83 and then a second payment that is a little larger, but
still very small compared to what he was getting from other companies. At
one point he received a sum of $15K from Brunswick, yet only made two dozen
records for them.

Yesterday I went through the Pathe "Abrams" files and found nothing for
Rodeheaver, although there are many lapses in this source. They did use
pseudonyms for various people, but not in a consistent way, and I can't
imagine that Pathe would record Rodeheaver and not want to advertise it. He
did make a record in 1923 that appeared on the Federal label, and Bob
Olsen's discography shows this as a "BD&M" (i.e. Bridgeport Die & Machine)
matrix. Did Pathe have a connection to BD&M that I don't know about, or has
anyone seen (or heard) Homer Rodeheaver on a Pathe product?

Although Pathe did record some numbers that were owned by Rodeheaver, I
doubt that he would be calculating residuals from such recordings as
"personal income." Such money would have gone right back into the publishing
company, of which Rody was a partner, rather than a sole owner.
