A list of small, experimental databases from OCLC Research can be found at: http://alcme.oclc.org/srw/index.html. I know for a fact that WorldCat is available via SRU, but they've never given me the address of the server and they don't advertise it anywhere that I can find. If you're interested, you might try contacting either the FirstSearch Marketing or Support folks directly. We also developed a simple tool that implements this search service and has been built in to a web page for creating reading lists. You can try this here, http://flounder.oucs.ox.ac.uk/mdc2 Currently, this tool is searching just a limited set of z39.50s servers (mainly oxford university library catalogue) but we also need to search more SRW/SRU servers so as to test our system and also for creating reading lists. Therefore, we would like to set up this tool to search your database so that the users can build their reading lists that includes references to items that you store. To be able to do this, we need your SRW/SRU server url and any other relevant details to configure our tool to be able to search the resources in your database. If there are any problems with the connection, we will try to work out what they are and may be here we need your help since we don't have access to information about the interface that resides on your server. Finally to emphasize, this is an open source development, all code and the connection configuration file will be made freely available through sourceforge and our own project web wiki: http://bream.oucs.ox.ac.uk/ask.oucs/ask/index.php/ASK <http://ask.oucs.ox.ac.uk/ask/index.php/ASK> If you would like to talk more about this I or my manager (Howard Noble) can call you at a time convenient to you.
