As part of a series of orientations to libraries and information centers, FLICC is offering an opportunity for federal librarians to become acquainted with the National Gallery of Art Library. Founded in 1941, the library is a major national art research center. The collection of more
than 350,000 resources on the history, theory and criticism includes monographs on artists as well as international exhibition, museum, and private collection and action catalogues, and comprehensive holdings of auction catalogues from all major American and European auction
houses from the seventeenth century to the present. The program will highlight distinctive aspects of
     o   the NGA Library’s Collections and
     o   Specialized Research in the Visual Arts Image Collections
     o   Rare Book Room Highlights

The National Gallery of Art, 4th Street and Constitution Avenue N.W., East Building. (For maps, public transportation and parking information, visit http://www.nga.gov/ginfo/area_map.shtm.) Attendees will meet at the main dest of the Study Center on the 1st Floor of the East Buidling.
The nearest Metro stops are Judiciary Square on the Red Line, Archives on the Yellow/Green Lines, and Smithsonian on the Blue/Orange Lines. Metro bus stops are located on 4th Street and 7th Street NW. DC.  Circulator bus stops are located at 4th Street and Madison Drive and at 7th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW.
