How would you present a Representation within the METS structure?

 

 

Background: We were thinking of having a file group (FileGRP) for each representation, but METS does not support attaching a DMD sections (descriptive metadata) to the fileGRP.

 

Questions that arise:

 

* Should a Representation have a descriptive metadata or descriptive metadata should be only on the Intellectual Entity level?

* Should one METS represent an Intellectual Entity or a Representation?

* What is the best practice to represent a Representation within a METS structure? Is using the FileGRP a good idea?
