A FEDLINK Vendor, JSTOR -JS- offers the following for attendees of ALA Midwinter: JSTOR Events at ALA Midwinter 2008 JSTOR Participants' Meeting Please join us for our Participants' Meeting at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia. The meeting will take place on Sunday, January 13, 2008 from 8:00 to 10:00 am at the Crowne Plaza hotel (Liberty C). As always, the program will include updates on JSTOR activity in addition to guest speakers. Highlights from this year*s program will include: Laura Brown, Senior Advisor, of Ithaka (www.ithaka.org), will share the findings of a paper titled University Publishing in a Digital Age. This paper argues that a renewed commitment to publishing in its broadest sense can enable universities to more fully realize the potential global impact of their academic programs, enhance the reputations of their institutions, maintain a strong voice in determining what constitutes important scholarship, and in some cases reduce costs; JSTOR staff will discuss collection development, the new JSTOR delivery platform, and other future plans and goals; and, we will have an update on the status of Aluka (www.aluka.org), an affiliate of JSTOR. JSTOR Open House/New Platform Demos We are very pleased to invite you and your library colleagues to the JSTOR Open House and Demo Sessions, to be held during the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia. JSTOR User Services staff will be available to answer questions and provide demonstrations of the Beta version of the new JSTOR website, which is due to be released in early 2008. The Open House will be held Saturday and Sunday afternoons in a hospitality suite at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel located at Ten Avenue of the Arts. The hotel is unable to give us the exact room number in advance, so please check with the Ritz-Carlton concierge or front desk upon arrival for the open house location. The Open House hours will be: Saturday, January 12: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with demo presentations at 2:30PM and 4:00PM Sunday, January 13: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with demo presentations at 1:30PM and 3:00PM If you would like to arrange a specific time to meet with a member of JSTOR User Services, please let us know.
