As part of a series of orientations to libraries and information centers, FLICC is offering an opportunity for federal librarians to become acquainted with the programs and services of the U.S. Department of the Interior Library.  The Department of the Interior Library strives to be the leading research institution for Interior Department staffers, other federal government officials, and nongovernmental researchers seeking information in subject areas related to the Department of the Interior. Its collection includes materials on topics such as Native American culture and history, American history, National Parks, geology, nature, wildlife management, water management, and public lands management. The Interior Library also houses a large collection of federal and state legal and legislative materials.

Additionally, the Interior Library’s collection of online databases and other electronic information sources, available through the Library’s newly  redesigned website (http://library.doi.gov), enables Interior Department personnel and other Library patrons to access needed information sources from their desktop computers. The Interior Library’s resources are also available to the general public and are used by students, educators, authors, law firms, and researchers.  This program will include a look at the electronic resources available through the Library’s website, a tour of the facility, and a discussion of the history of the Library and the Interior Department.
