The Department of the Interior Library would like to invite you to a
special Open House on Tuesday, September 9th from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.   The
Open House will feature online database vendor representatives and
information, special library tours, and a presentation by Dr. Francis
Flavin of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs.

The schedule for the DOI Library Open House is as follows:

   9:30am-12:00 noon - Featured Databases - EBSCOHost;; ELI Environmental
   Law Reporter; HeinOnline; JSTOR; LexisNexis; LexisNexis Congressional
   Hearings and Research Digital Collections; ProQuest National Newspapers;
   Readex U.S. Congressional Serial Set

   12:30-1:30 pm - Presentation entitled "George Catlin: Painter of the
   American West" by historian Francis Flavin, PhD, of the Office of the
   Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs.

      George Catlin was one of the most important American artists of the
      nineteenth century, and one of the most important artists of the
      American West. Catlin dedicated his life to preserving a memory of
      American Indians through paintings and through the written word.
      Discover how this man and his paintings inspired other artists, gave
      visual expression to Indian life in the West, and left a legacy that
      has been valued by both Indians and non-Indians alike.

   1:30 pm-4:00 pm - Featured Databases - Elsevier Science Direct;

   Tours of the Library will be given at 9:45 am, 10:30 am, 1:30 pm and
   3:30 pm by Law Librarian Maureen Booth.
