SLA Click U Live Seminar:

Green your Library, Part 1: Why It Is Important To Do It

Presented by Anca Novacovici, Founder and president of Eco-Coach, Inc

This is a 2-part seminar - the second will be held on Wednesday, December 17th. If planning on attending both, you must register/rsvp to BOTH seminars.

What does being 'green' mean for libraries and why is it important? How can libraries 'go green', especially if they are located in an older building, or one that they have minimal control over (in terms of electricity and water use, for example)? What should new libraries being build take into consideration? What have other libraries done? What are some relatively simple steps that you and your organization can take to be more environmentally friendly? How can you implement those steps in a cost-effective manner?

These and other related questions will be answered. Part I will present the case for why it is beneficial for libraries to be 'green', not only from an environmental standpoint, but also from a health and cost effectiveness perspective. Featured with be case studies of other libraries that have taken steps to become more environmentally-friendly, and discuss what worked and what did not work for them and why.
