To the BIBCO and CONSER Operations Committee attendees:

The National Library of Medicine has offered to host a free, one-day workshop on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, the day before the BIBCO and CONSER Operations Committees begin.

This one day training session will provide hands-on instruction for the new NLM course "Using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH(r)) in Cataloging." Each participant will have a computer and will be following along with the training material including the online exercises. The course covers the use of MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) in the cataloging environment. Among other topics it includes how to use the online MeSH Browser, selection of main headings, topical subheadings, geographic headings, and publication types.

The course will run 9:00am-4:00pm, and will be held in a training room at NLM. For those staying in downtown DC, there is Metrorail transportation to NLM (e.g., from L'Enfant Plaza, it's about a 30-minute route in the range of $6 or $7 round trip). The Medical Center Station on the Red Line is 300 yards north of the NLM campus.

Please indicate your interest via email to Carolyn ([log in to unmask]) or Hien ([log in to unmask]) by March 20. Confirmations for participants will be sent by March 27. The course size is limited to 15 participants. Open slots will be offered to local librarians after March 27.
