Guys, I betcha 1/4-track isn't the issue, it's 3.75IPS speed. Easily solved with a variety of professional decks of the more modern vintage (the older decks not so much). Some of these tapes date from before the development of the 1/4-track format, according to the article. In any case, there is no format issue that requires using an aged consumer deck.
