Patent Basics on Dialog: Five Things You Need to Know There is a wealth of information in patent content- as much as 70- 90% of the information disclosed in patents is not disclosed anywhere else. Competitive intelligence, market intelligence, and current awareness are all applications that can be addressed through information culled from patent content. This seminar will feature five tricks of the trade for searching patent content on Dialog.
This session is scheduled for 60 minutes to cover the following:
§ Overview and comparison of the patent databases on Dialog
§ Searching patents by application/filing number or patent/publication number
§ Searching by inventor or patent assignee name
§ Searching by class code
§ Searching for prior art in patent and scientific literature files
This class assumes basic knowledge of Dialog searching; basic knowledge of patent research is helpful, but not necessary.
