Network Bulletin no. 09-26 Date: September 22, 2006 Subject: Q4 2009 DTB Machine Distribution Index Term: DTBM distribution The accompanying table shows the scheduled distribution of digital talking-book players to machine-lending agencies (MLA) for the fourth quarter of 2009 and early 2010. This table is broken into superlots of ten regular lots and represents approximately three weeks of production. The contractor, Shinano Kenshi, has scheduled delivery for October and November. These shipments are expected to comprise twenty three lots of standard players and seven lots of advanced players. Players arrive at the contractor's facility in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and are accepted by NLS in lots of 1,440. On average, for every four lots of standard players there is one lot of advanced players. Lots are expected to arrive approximately weekly from Japan by sea. Players will be distributed according to the schedule, following NLS's quality assurance inspection and acceptance. All MLAs will receive players at least once per month; however they may not receive players from every weekly shipment. Please note that the minimum shipment is one overpack of eight players and as such there may be a variance in the number of players sent to MLAs from one superlot to the next. In aggregate, the proportion of players to MLAs is based on readership. Michael Katzmann Chief, Materials Development Division [log in to unmask]
