Subject: Digital Talking Books
Index term: Prioritization for shipping

A number of libraries have inquired about the prioritization for shipping digital talking-book (DB)
titles on cartridges, once production begins to "ramp up."

NLS producers have been instructed to ship first all new titles, in both RC and DB formats, once
narration has been approved by NLS Quality Assurance. The RC and DB shipments will be
approximately within one week of each other.

Producers will then ship, in DB format, all titles that have already been delivered to libraries in RC
format. The order of delivery will be based on the number of copies requested of each title, with the
largest number of copies ordered to ship first. The list of these titles is attached.

This list also indicates the producer American Printing House for the Blind (APH), National
Audio Company (NAC), or Potomac Talking Books (PTB) responsible for shipping each title.
Since all three producers will be shipping simultaneously, the titles will not necessarily arrive at
your library in the order shown on this list.
