Part Time Training Officer, Sound Archive 
6 Months Fixed Term
Salary: 30,462 - 34,853 pro rata

The British Library sound archive internship programme is now in its third successful year, and we are looking to recruit an experienced audio archivist to deliver internship training over the next six months.

This programme combines a series of training modules on working with different audio carriers, an introduction to the basics of audio theory, and audio archiving principles.  The ten-week internships are delivered in pairs, and the successful candidate would be required to oversee four interns, beginning in January and April 2010. 

Holding a HND in audio engineering or closely related discipline or with extensive experience in audio engineering and sound archiving you will have substantial professional experience working with the technology that supports audiovisual archiving. You will have a broad understanding of audio recording, transfer, playback technologies, equipment and audio archiving principles. With good interpersonal skills, you will be able to communicate clearly and effectively across a range of departments.
