Index term:   MaryBeth Wise appointed network consultant

The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped is pleased to announce the
appointment of MaryBeth Wise to the post of network consultant, effective March 1, 2010.


Prior to this appointment Ms. Wise worked in the Materials Development Division as a quality
assurance specialist in digital audiobook production. She acted as co-coordinator of the NLS Digital
Prelaunch Project, and her contributions to the Machine Lending Agency Survey helped NLS prepare for
the distribution of digital talking-book machines to network libraries. Ms. Wise is currently
co-coordinator of the 2010 National Conference of Librarians Serving Blind and Physically Handicapped
Individuals.

Ms. Wise holds a master of fine arts degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington,
D.C., and a bachelor of arts degree in English literature and theater from Barry University in Miami,
Florida. She will receive a master's degree in library and information science from the Catholic
University of America in 2010. She is a member of the American Library Association, Special Libraries
Association, and the American Society for Information Science and Technology.

"I look forward to working with network librarians and staff in serving blind and physically handicapped
library patrons and ensuring that information is accessible to all as new information technologies
develop," said Ms. Wise. "I feel honored to be working with members of the network library
community."
