Hello Robert I do not know the specific product, and the common wisdom about early integrated turntables like this was quite unfavorable, but I see at least one serious problem - the USB output will produce sounds that have been equalized for Lp listening and will distort the tone balance of most 78, even if you change the stylus to a proper one. So for 78 I do not think this is adequate. It also does not leave room for improvement, and with the continuous drop in price/quality rate, I think this is unwise, sacrifiying too much for sake of commodity. I prefer to do this with a high quality turntable - found Duals to be very sturdy and regular - attached to a separate flat pre for 78 and a NAD RIAA pre for vinyl. Currently using Edirol UA 25, I have three of them in different locations and been very happy quality and service-wise. You can use any Cd burner as "transport" and get very good D/A conversion to listen to Cds or files from HD. It's also important to invest in some good software, I found my quality level (non professional, but there are much worse transfers out there for sale) well served by Audition + Click Repair, but I am also using DC8 because I bought the packhage with their Tracer flat amplifier. This way you can improve or test any element of the chain should opportunity or necessity arise. Hope this is useful, Francesco On Thu, Apr 1, 2010 at 2:58 AM, Robert Richard <[log in to unmask]> wrote: > ARSC List, > Any recommendations for purchasing, budget is less than $500 (CAN) and collection is less than 500 Lp (mostly 33RPM, 45RPM and a few 78RPM) a new turntable?
