Greetings, Sir, We use LTI; therefore there is NO SUCH THING as local anymore. We're in the process of converting everything local to the LC/NACO authority file. I can't tell you how frustrating this can be at times, especially when one has a corporate body or a traced, numbered, classed-together series that has changed many times over the course of 100 years; WHICH is reflected in OUR local authority file, only to have LTI, which uses the LC/NACO file ... flip them all, 'cause they appear on the authority record as xrefs and not as name changes. In a word ... ARGH! 'good day. R. -- Robert C.W. Again (as with other topics) it is not entirely clear whether all folks responding to this thread are talking about NACO records or exclusively local authority records. Anything goes locally, but NACO exists to standardize conformity with LC practices. Also, it is good practice to understand that online records available to all libraries are capable of being revised at will (no more "liquid paper"), and that policies suggesting revision of "preliminary" thesis-author headings once those authors pick "preferred" name forms (previously called "published" name forms) would be reasonable.
