The Data Standards Group of the Archives and Records Association are co-ordinating a UK response to the Call for Comments on the Revision of Encoded Archival Description (EAD). A meeting of UK EAD experts has been arranged for Friday, 14th January 2011, to be held in the Panizzi Room at the British Library in London, 11am-4pm. This will be a full day of technical discussions covering all aspects of the schema. Invitations to this meeting have been issued this morning. If you feel you have been omitted from the meeting invitation list, I would be grateful if you could please contact Alexandra Eveleigh: [log in to unmask] before the end of November. There are limits on attendance at the meeting for practical reasons (space and time available, and the need to finalise a written submission quickly), but neither do DSG wish to restrict anybody from participating fully in the revision consultation. If you have single issues that you would like raised as part of the UK response, you are very welcome to submit short written comments and proposals to: [log in to unmask] by the end of December please, so that we can structure the scoping meeting's discussions accordingly. You are of course also able to submit a personal response to the consultation, should you so wish.
