International Special
Librarians Day (ISLD) 2011 will increase
awareness of international
librarianship as we celebrate the day on
Thursday, April 14, from 6:00 PM to
8:30 PM.
Join the International
Relations Committee (IRC) and other interested chapter members at the
Georgetown
University Law Library, Room 320, 111 G Street, Northwest, DC.
We are bringing
to DC, Dr
Sohair Wastawy, currently Dean of Libraries at Illinois State University
and
formerly Chief Librarian of the Library of
Alexandria, Alexandria, Egypt.
Washington DC
is represented
by Allen Overland, Directory of the National Endowment for Democracy,
Democracy
Resource Center. He is widely
known in international development and democracy
information circles and will
discuss building a resource center that in this case was funded by the
UN
Democracy Fund.
And the IRC is
pleased to
have with us, Edna Reid, Intelligence Analyst at the Headquarters of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation in DC.
She will discuss her pioneering work in Asia as former president
of the
Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals Singapore (SCIPSgp).
Prior to
that work, she was an entrepreneur with an Internet start-up in
Malaysia.
Wow! All
of these great speakers, and some
networking time before the presenters, start at around 6:45 PM.
The location is
close to the
Judiciary Square and Union Station Metrorail stations.
Fees are $15
for most members
($10 for student and unemployed members) and $20 for non-members.
The fees include drinks and appetizers.
Please register via the link below.
(If you choose
to pay by
check, send your payment no later than a week before the event to the
