The National Technical Information Service (NTIS) is pleased to announce to the academic, library, and business communities the opportunity to participate in the evaluation of the National Technical Reports Library Repository Beta Version 2.0 (NTRL Beta 2.0). This new version of the NTRL offers improvements and enhancements to the existing platform.

The NTRL is an online, subscription-based system which provides access to the NTIS bibliographic collection comprised of over 2 million scientific and technical reports produced and/or sponsored by the Federal Government and other sources. To build upon the success of NTRL Version 1.0 launched in April 2009, NTRL Beta 2.0 offers significant improvements such as:

·         Full-Text Searching

·         Search Term Grouping, including use of parentheses for nesting

·         Metadata Hotlinks

·         Fielded Searching – search by Author, Title, Date, Description/Identifier, Report Number, Document Type, or NTIS Issue Number

·         Clustering of Results for further refinement by Year, Source, NTIS Subject Category or Keyword

To participate in the evaluation of NTRL Beta 2.0, interested parties must complete the NTRL Terms and Conditions and provide the following:

·         Organization Name

·         Contact Person Name / E-mail address / Telephone Number

·         IP Address(es) or Range(s)

Submit this information via e-mail to [log in to unmask] or fax to (703) 605-6745. Upon submission of these forms, you will be provided the link to the IP-authenticated beta platform. The evaluation period is available through May 23, 2011.

Upon completion of your evaluation, we encourage all participants to complete our feedback form which is available from https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WTB8ZG7.

Questions and/or comments regarding NTRL Beta 2.0  can be sent directly to [log in to unmask]. We look forward to your participation.
