I have usually made things up, with fabricated titles, authors, ISBNs, etc. I usually use real-people-in-the-authority-file's names and just lift ISBNs from books and DVDs around home, so students don't get the unable-to-validate response from Connexion. Last semester that I taught for the U of AL's School of Library and Information Studies, *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I*, had just come out as movie, so I downloaded a JPG of the cover from IMDB.com, blew it up and made up the rest by consulting what I found on IMDB.com and what I remembered from watching the film. So much is available on the internet that it's difficult coming up with a cheatproof final project, but I think it can be done.
