I have corrected the following headings:

n 83035580: William, Prince, Duke of Cambridge, 1982- (formerly Cambridge, William, Prince, Duke of, 1982- )

n 80003836: Edward, Prince, Earl of Wessex, 1964- (formerly Wessex, Edward, Prince, Earl of, 1964- )

n 2002047654: Adolphus Frederick, Prince, Duke of Cambridge, 1774-1850 (son of George III; formerly Cambridge, Adolphus Frederick, Duke of, 1774-1850)

nb 99051060: George, Prince, Duke of Cambridge, 1819-1904 (grandson of George III; formerly Cambridge, George William Frederick Charles, Duke of, 1819-1904)

Do you agree that the following headings need "Prince" as the first title in ‡c?

nr2002003471: William Henry, Duke of Gloucester, 1743-1805 (grandson of George II)

n 85305793: Henry Frederick, Duke of Cumberland, 1745-1790 (grandson of George II)

n 85116368: Frederick Augustus, Duke of York and Albany, 1763-1827 (son of George III)

n 50035071: Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent, 1767-1820 (son of George III)

n 82220757: Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex, 1773-1843 (son of George III)

nr 89003846: George, Duke of Kent, 1902-1942 (son of George V)

Do you agree that the following headings should be changed?

n 84090592: Cumberland, William Augustus, Duke of, 1721-1765 (son of George II; better: William Augustus, Prince, Duke of Cumberland, 1721-1765)

n 50051338: Beatrice, Princess, consort of Henry, Prince of Battenberg, 1857-1944 (not "a consort of a person with the highest royal status within a state or people"; better: Beatrice, Princess Henry of Battenberg, 1857-1944?)

nr 00006842: Louise, Duchess of Fife, 1867-1931 (daughter of Edward VII; better: Louise, Princess Royal, Duchess of Fife, 1867-1931?)

n 2007009549: Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood, 1897-1965 (daughter of George V; better: Mary, Princess Royal, Countess of Harewood, 1897-1965?)

Do you agree that the following headings for spouses (and a former spouse) of royal dukes, etc., should be changed?

n 86101487: York, Sarah Mountbatten-Windsor, Duchess of, 1959- (better: Sarah, Duchess of York, 1959- ?)

nb 96070044: Wessex, Sophie, Countess of, 1965- (better: Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 1965- ?)

n 2009066904: Cambridge, Catherine, Duchess of, 1982- (better: Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, 1982- ? Is this the form being considered at the British Library?)

If I have overlooked other headings that should be changed, please let me know.

n 2009066904 is also incorrectly formulated. The British Library attempted to update this NAR for Kate Middleton after her marriage, but our update was lost when it was overtaken by the incorrect version now on the file. We're in the process of correcting it. I hadn't spotted the error for Prince William.

Hello Ryan,

You are correct in your assessment - LC will fix this NAR and several others that are incorrectly formulated (e.g., n 80003836). Thank you for your message.

Subject: [PCCLIST] Prince William's authority record

Hi PCC List,

I just saw that Prince William's authority record was revised to reflect his new title and I'm not sure that the 1xx is correctly formulated. It is now:

**100 1 Cambridge, William, $c Prince, Duke of, $d 1982-

But given that he the grandchild of the monarch, shouldn't rule 22.16A4 apply, and the 1xx be:

**100 0 William, $c Prince, Duke of Cambridge, $d 1982-

Similar to how Prince Andrew is entered under given name:

**Andrew, $c Prince, Duke of York, $d 1960-

I freely admit that the rules for nobility/royalty confuse me so I could be all wrong. Anyhow, what do you all think?
