Adam,

That link actually does not lead to AMICUS. It goes to a new-ish interface launched by LAC. The Canadiana Authorities interfaces searches only a file of authority records extracted from AMICUS and stored in XML.
This interface relies upon keyword searching, i.e. browsing is not available. If you really want to browse and indexed file you must go back to AMICUS.
The new interface does not require a login, so that should save a bit of time.

I would encourage you to use the Canadiana Authorities database instead of AMICUS if you are searching for authority records. It contains all of our name, title and name-title authority records, but not the CSH subject authority records.

Subject: Re: [PCCLIST] Cataloger's Desktop 2011 Issue 2 release + NACO Canadian names and VIAF

Paul,

This new text is confusing, because it says that "Note that cataloger[s] may choose to continue to search via AMICUS or by using the Canadiana database at:
http://collectionscanada.gc.ca/canadiana-authorities/index/index?lang=eng"

So does that mean that we may search AMICUS INSTEAD of VIAF? That's how it appears to me. Which I personally am happy to do. Or does it mean that we MUST search VIAF but that we may ALSO search AMICUS? If so, it should be reworded.

Adam
