We are pleased to announce the latest program in the Safety Net series, sponsored by the Library of Congress FLICC Preservation Working Group and the Preservation Directorate.

After the Disaster:  Replace, Recover or Digitize?

Should you replace, recover, reformat or remove?   What are the best methods for providing access to titles damaged in a disaster?  Join us in evaluating steps for disaster recovery using various options and workflows.  The Library of Congress has recently awarded a disaster recovery contract now used in conjunction with replacement, in-house recovery, contractual recovery, and digitization of titles damaged by a disaster.  LC Preservation Directorate staff will present examples and lead a discussion of how to set up work plans - large scale and small - to deal effectively with damaged materials.

Date: Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Time:  8:30 am to 12:15 pm

Location: Library of Congress, Madison Building, 6th Floor, Montpelier Room [Please note room correction]

Registration: FREE but registration is required: send email to [log in to unmask] to register.  This program will be webcast; seats are limited. Please send email to [log in to unmask] by June 3, 2011 to request webcast participation.
