9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.


The tour of the U. S. Government Printing Office will include a tour of the Press Division (Direct Plate Room and the color presses), a tour of GPO’s Customer Services, (which provide indispensable graphic design services to Congress, the White House and Federal agencies) and the Binding Section, to see a marbling and gold stamping demonstration.  Attendees will also be given a tour of our 150th Anniversary exhibit showing the timeline of GPO’s history, a video of the Public Printer delivering the Presidential Papers to the President and many artifacts that have been used throughout GPO history.


      Registrants are advised to arrive no later than 9:15 am to allow time for security screening.


On the day of the event, proceed to the visitor center where you will check in with the security officers.  Please bring a valid photo ID to obtain a badge from the Security Office.  Please note that this tour may not be photographed.  Comfortable shoes should be worn the day of tour.

GPO is located at 732 North Capitol St., NW. The GPO is easily accessible from Union Station Metro Stop (Red Line). Exit Union Station via the First St. exit and walk a block down G St. to North Capitol. Turn right on North Capitol at the big red brick building and walk to the entrance on North Capitol closest to H St.
