Thanks Richard. Good to know. I need to double check on my machine's capabilities since that's probably what's limiting the capabilities. :-) Martin -----Original Message----- From: Association for Recorded Sound Discussion List [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Richard L. I bought it for a client project that had mixed modes on some of the MDs and it got everything. There may ne other MD players that behave as you describe, but I think Sony sort-of realized at the end of the format they needed to provide us with something to retrieve material from the format in an easy way. The MD I use regularly is a HI-MD and requires the installation of Sonic Stages software on a computer to fast rip. If the MD discs were recorded on earlier non Hi-MD machines I still have to go with real time recording. > > Martin > > -----Original Message----- > From: Association for Recorded Sound Discussion List > [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Jim Sam > Sent: Thursday, December 01, 2011 1:31 PM > To: [log in to unmask] > Subject: Re: [ARSCLIST] Minidisc players > > The last "Walkman" MD player that Sony made (Model MZ-M200) could rip the audio way faster than real-time playback. I've found it enormously helpful, though I think it recently went out of production/manufacture.
