NLS has been asked to publicize a vacancy for a full-time librarian at the State Library of Louisiana in Baton Rouge. The application deadline is January 21, 2012. Details about the position are below:

Job Opening: Librarian 1/2/3

Responsibilities: This position reports to the Talking Books and Braille Library (TBBL). This position serves as the Children and Youth Services Librarian; implements a summer reading program; recommends updates for quarterly newsletters and departmental Web pages; and works with a team of Reader Advisors. This job duty is unique in that it provides specialized service to patrons who are blind, visually impaired, physically handicapped, or dyslexic. This position requires excellent communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to multitask.

Qualifications: A master's degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited library school is required. Experience with children and youth services in a public or special library is desired. Placement in this career progression group as a Librarian 1, Librarian 2, or Librarian 3 depends on qualifications and experience.
