PROGRAM: Rebooting Your Career: Networking, Motivation and Partnering

Do you have the skills needed in today�s job market?� Not sure?� Come to the�DC/SLA Chapter�s�Rebooting Your Career:� Networking, Motivation and Partnering Program.� Listen to panelists who will talk about a successful internship program for the unemployed, the latest job skills in demand, networking opportunities through social media, and job searching.

SLA Candidate for President-Elect,�Juanita Richardson, will be present to say a few words to attendees.

Thanks to�InfoCurrent, the Information Management Division of CORESTAFF Services, for their sponsorship of this DC SLA program.� InfoCurrent has a 40-year history of providing direct-hire, temporary and contract personnel to support the library and records management functions of businesses, industries and government agencies.

SPEAKERS
Richard Huffine�is the Director of the Libraries Program for the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, Virginia and serves on the SLA Board of Directors as the Division Cabinet Chair.� Richard will describe the successful internship program that was established at USGS for the unemployed, and he will make recommendations for employers how to establish their own internships for the unemployed.

Michelle Hermes�is a Recruiter for InfoCurrent, a�staffing sector within CORESTAFF Services, which supports the staffing needs of universities, government, corporations and libraries.

Michelle has created and facilitated learning programs including career development and job search workshops.� She develops strong client relationships and helps individuals reach their professional goals.

Michelle will address the hot skills that are in demand for today�s job market.� You will learn what information professional skills are transferable to other jobs, and what new skills you need to land your next job.

Naomi House, MLIS�is the Reference and Acquisitions Librarian at a Federal Library and the founder of INALJ, the I Need a Library Job daily jobs digest and website.� Learn how Naomi is expanding the job hunting opportunities and horizons of librarians and other information professionals.�Naomi will talk about the different avenues one can take to network through her social media sites, and how to search for jobs.
