Please note this information regarding the DCM Z1 update:

The DCM 2012 Update 2-3, includes information on the new MARC 21 fields 368 and 378 that are now available for use in Name Authority Records. It also contains new additions to the 382 field but at this time these new additions are not to be used.  A notice will be send to PCClist when these are available for use. Please note that Section 1XX contains information for RDA catalogers that nullifies the agreement with Library and Archives Canada (LAC) to align our respective authority files with regard to the form of 1XXs used in RDA-NARs.  The agreement with LAC continues to apply to those continuing to create AACR2 names only.

Subject: [Desktop] Cataloger's Desktop 2012 Issue 3 released

Good morning, colleagues:

I am pleased to report that the 2012 Issue 3 of Cataloger's Desktop was released late last night. Updates in this issue include:

* DCM: Descriptive Cataloging Manual, 2012 Update 2-3

* LCPS: Library of Congress Policy Statements, 2012 Update 4, August 2012

* MARC 21 Format for Authority Data, Update 14, April 2012

* MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data, Update 14, April 2012

* RDA: Resource Description and Access, August 2012 Update

Most of these updates were concurrently released with the last LCPS update in June, but the "What's New" page is newly updated, as are the LCPS and RDA August updates. The timing of this release keeps the LCPS and RDA versions in Cataloger's Desktop and RDA Toolkit in sync.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you for your continued support.

Bruce
