A new question: how do we determine the sex of a person. May we infer from the forename if we assume it is (usually?) used for one sex or the other? Do we need further evidence, and what might that be? I hesitate to email someone asking: What sex are you?
And a follow-up question to Jack's: is there a best practice for citing the source for RDA's gender element? I presume quoting a "his" or "her" phrase, as mentioned earlier, or quoting other material in the 670 is warranted, not just a citation to the source employed (a la 375 $v).
