The new OCLC WorldShare™ Interlibrary Loan service that will replace WorldCat Resource Sharing is scheduled for availability in the United States in March 2013.

You can do several things now to prepare for your use of the new service. These include:

Update your library’s information in the OCLC Policies Directory. Some key areas to review include Contacts and Policies for copy, loan and deflections.

Review and update your address information in constant data records in the WorldCat Services administrative module. LABEL PRINTING WILL NOT WORK IF ADDRESSES ARE NOT FORMATTED BY INDIVIDUAL DATA ELEMENTS.

Update your library’s browser to support WorldShare Interlibrary Loan. View browser requirements.

There is still time to register for a February 27 webinar that will help you prepare for your library’s transition from WorldCat Resource Sharing to WorldShare Interlibrary Loan.

This session will include tips on preparations such as updating your library’s constant data and information in the OCLC Policies Directory.  Members of the WorldShare Interlibrary Loan team will also review the steps you will take to transition your current 9-digit WorldCat Resource Sharing authorization and password to the new user account required for use of the new service.
