The slides and the handbook may be used immediately for training purposes; video presentations and exercises with voice-over will be added to this site as they are made available.
Hi everyone,
This message is being posted on behalf of the PCC Standing Committee on Training RDA Series Training Task Group:
Following up on the recent announcement of the RDA series bridge training, now available at:
http://www.loc.gov/catworkshop/courses/rda_naco_series/course%20table.html
we would like to inform you of the procedures for reviewing the institutions that take this course, which is required for all NACO members who produce series authority records.
Catalogers who are working with a current reviewer in the NACO bridge training can use that reviewer to also review series, if that person agrees to it, once you have completed the NACO series bridge training. Please inform the review group at [log in to unmask]. That reviewer will decide when you are independent and inform the PCC Secretariat.
If you do not have a current reviewer who can review series, catalogers may instead submit series authority records to the NACO Series review group once your institution has finished the series bridge training. When submitting a series authority record, as you put the record into the OCLC Online Save File, in the box “Submit for Review” put the following OCLC holding symbols: UBY, GU, CLU, YLS, IUL. This is needed because the Review Group members share the task of examining authority records.
The review group will inform you when you are independent, which should not take long. This is not intended to be an exhaustive review like the original training. This is simply to convert you to RDA as regards series authority records.
A reviewer will usually respond promptly; around the time of ALA Annual and Midwinter Conferences, however, all reviewers are likely to be away from their offices.
