Thanks very much for your reply; this is definitely something worth waiting for! My original question was poorly worded, since I’ve actually been following SNAC with great interest and am aware of the tremendous work you’ve been doing to generate EAC-CPF records from existing data sources.

I think what I meant to ask was, have others been fiddling with automated EAC-CPF creation (via XSLT) on a smaller scale for local projects, etc.? I know of the Harvard/Yale Samuel Johnson project and would like to do something similar, but with an automated component.

Dear Tim,

The Social Networks and Archival Context (SNAC) project is developing XSLT methods for extracting data and assembling EAC-CPF records from MARC21 slim xml records and EAD instances. The MARC extraction of EAC-CPF is almost complete and we hope to release it as open source and as a web service in the next two or three weeks. The EAD extraction developed in the first phase of SNAC is being thoroughly revised. It too will be released as open source and as a web service.

And so if you are patient, the answer is yes!
