Don has a good point.  It's hard to think of multi-generational jazz families where the level of success is maintained.  Such as Michael Douglas being as big of an acting superstar as Kirk Douglas.  Or the Redgrave family of actors in the U.K.

Ravi Coltrane is nowhere near as big or influential as John.  The Brubeck brothers are talented but most of their fame is from their collaborations with their father.  Joshua Redman is more popular than his father, Dewey, but likely because he plays bop while his dad was a free jazz guy.  Ellis Marsalis became more nationally known after his son's success.  And so on.
