FEDLINK Summit on the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA)

Join your colleagues for a half-day symposium to learn about and shape federal library participation in the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) initiative. The DPLA describes itself as “leading the first concrete steps toward the realization of a large-scale digital public library that will make the cultural and scientific record available to all.” (For more information on DPLA, visit their Website at http://dp.la/)

 

For federal libraries, the DPLA represents an extraordinary opportunity to make their unique collections available among the DPLA’s vast collections of public domain materials. The symposium will feature speakers from DPLA, a panel of federal libraries already exploring options for participation, and a technical panel from the Government Printing Office on using the FDsys solution as a means to bring collections to light despite IT constraints. Question and answer sessions will help the federal information community discover ways to participate in this initiative.

 

Guest speakers will be Maura Marx, Deputy Director, Office of Library Services, Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and Dan Cohen, Founding Executive Director, DPLA.
